Sassy, adjective: lively, bold, and full of spirit; cheeky.
I want to be Cinderella
She said ‘ I want to be Cinderella’ after we read the fairy tale book together. ‘No dear love, Cinderella was no princess. She scrubbed floors and washed vessels in the day. I wouldn’t want to be Cinderella’. She wasn’t sassy, she was crude and raw.
‘But mom’ she stopped me quickly, ‘she became a princess by the night. And wore a beautiful dress, rode in a carriage. Had a fairy God mother. And danced with the prince. ‘ I looked into her dreamy eyes and decided I would not break her heart.
‘Yes dear, that we all do. I want to be Cinderella too.’

She didn't want to ruin her little girl's fantasy, for she has seen the good, the bad and the ugly. I really liked this piece.

ReplyDeleteHow we crave the short cuts to fame in our childhood only to learn life is not like that at all.
ReplyDeleteWith her mean and ugly step sisters Cinderella deserved a break so why not give hope to a little one that dreams might come true. However you might suggest that hard work will also set you on the right path!
